What is Content ID?  Content ID is YouTube's "digital fingerprinting system" that content owners use to easily identify and manage their copyrighted content on YouTube. Videos uploaded to YouTube are compared against audio and video files registered with Content ID by content owners, looking for any matches. In short, we submit all tracks that we distribute to YouTube's Content ID System. This system looks for videos that contain your music, and alert us when a match is found. We are then able to assert your rights to the music in that video, and make sure you get paid for that video's views. Whether you upload your own videos, or a third party uses your music, Content ID will find it; and we'll make sure you get your share of the revenue from that video!

Tell me more about the optional On-Demand CD Manufacturing service.  You supply us with the .WAV files and the artwork, and we'll take care of the rest. We load the audio and artwork into our computer system, and make your album available for sale on our website and on affiliated websites (Amazon, etc.). When your album is sold to a customer, we will process the order and the payment, manufacture the CD, package it and ship it directly to your customer. You don't have to do anything, and you keep 90% of the profit!  Click here for more information.

Do I need UPC and ISRC codes, and how do I get them?  Yes, you need BOTH! Every release, no matter whether it is an album, an EP or a single, needs a UPC code. Additionally, every track that will be distributed to retailers needs an ISRC code. Most distributors charge their customers for UPC and ISRC codes. We don't! If you distribute with us, we will supply you with a UPC code and all necessary ISRC codes free of charge. If you already have your own, no problem; we'll use those!

What is the Neighboring Rights service?  This is pretty complicated.  Click here for an explanation.

What is Nielson SoundScan?  SoundScan is a method of tracking sales of music and music video products throughout the United States and Canada. Data is collected weekly and made available every Wednesday to subscribers, which include record companies, publishing firms, music retailers, independent promoters, film and TV companies, and artist managers. SoundScan is the sales source for the Billboard music charts, making it the largest source of sales records in the music industry.

How often will I get paid?  We issue payments and statements once per quarter, within 45 days of the closing of the quarter.  For example, Quarter 1 closes on March 31.  We will issue your Quarter 1 statement and payment within 45 days of March 31.  If you have a balance of $10 USD or more, we will issue you a payment. If you have a balance less that $10, we will roll it over until it reaches $10.

  • Quarter 1 - January through March

  • Quarter 2 - April through June

  • Quarter 3 - July through September

  • Quarter 4 - October through December
